Vejle chip of Xbox360

VentureBeat's site published very detailed description of internal architecture of new revision of Xbox 360, which used Vejle chip.

Vejle is a chip, made by 45-nm technology, where CPU and GPU are together.

Vejle is a sixth generation chip of Xbox 360. Xenon and Zephyr used 90-nm technology, and Falcon, Opus and Jasper - 65-nm.
Microsoft and IBM succeeded in reducing value of production and energy consumption of new model. The new combined chip contains 372 million transistors, it is made using technology "silicon on an insulator".

CPU and GPU of original model of Xbox 360, that was released in 2005, were approximately the same size, as one Vejle, and they were made using "hottest" 90-nm technology. In 2007 year CPU was created using 65-nm technology, and GPU used that technology one year later.

In addition, a main chip is placed in one module with 10 MB built-in memory chip. The combined chip uses on 60% less energy and occupies 50% less place, than original CPU and GPU of 2005 year standard.
